About Us

We’ve always loved art and design, and, people have asked us where we find the pieces in our own spaces. This is our way of sharing our aesthetic with others. We’re drawn to historical art which was made with incredible skill and always has a unique story. We write a detailed description for every piece, covering its artistic merits, history, and context so you can connect with it on a deeper level.

  • Our approach

Some sites offer budget prints or generic designs that lack character. We’re not in the business of volume for the sake of selling; instead, we focus on pieces that we think are artistically strong and unique.

We prioritize high-quality prints that will last. Each piece is carefully selected and produced with premium paper and framing materials to ensure longevity and preserve visual richness. We try as much as possible to preserve the unique textures, imperfections, and nuances of the originals.

  • Mission

We believe historical art isn’t confined to the past—it can be part of any space when considered thoughtfully. Framing, interior design, and surrounding decor all influence how a piece is perceived. Rather than treating art as an isolated object, we consider how it interacts with its environment. Our room photos show how art can work in different settings and enhanced with the right interior design.

Our goal is to make historical art more accessible, relevant, and engaging. Whether it sparks curiosity, nostalgia, or a deeper appreciation for the past, it fosters a greater awareness and appreciation.

  • Our name

The name "Are Violets Blue?" draws from the familiar phrase "Roses are red, violets are blue." It encourages us to question what we think we know, challenging long-held assumptions and prompting us to see the world with fresh eyes. This reflects our approach to art—reexamining the familiar through a contemporary lens.

Our goal is to help you rethink what art means to you. We want to encourage you to explore why certain pieces resonate with you and to connect with them in a personal and meaningful way.
